Embracing Autumn
With the exception of the transition from winter to spring, I am generally not a fan of the changing seasons. I prefer the warmer weather and I'm always sad to see the summer bid us farewell, but I do enjoy the colors and textures of the fall.
Instead of taking a "glass half empty" approach I've been trying to focus on the benefits of autumn - the days when the temperatures are perfect, the beautiful colors of the trees, and the ability to add knits, leathers, suedes, furs, and tweeds into the mix. When appropriate, I'm still trying to keep my "year-round" pieces in the rotation and I'm trying to continue wearing my lighter-weight pieces by layering them.
For me, the fall and winter are all about statement outerwear, and over the knee boots with jeans and blazers, and other statement footwear. Here are a few of my recent fall outfits...
Gold leather moto jacket from Bebe (a few years old), statement loafers, and a statement clutch.
I wore this dress during the warmer months, but made it more weather-appropriate with leggings, over the knee boots and a faux leather and fur jacket.
Another trench that I've had for years. I bought it from Ann Taylor loft probably about 7 years ago, and I rarely wear it. It's time to dust off these pieces and get some use out of them.
I guess I have a thing for trenches. This is another piece that I've had for years. The pleats transform a classic into a more modern statement piece. I paired it with skinny jeans, a leather messenger bag and slouchy boots.
What are your fall "go-to" pieces? Comment on this post below and let me know.
