Thank you!

Hello my fashionable friends,

Thank you to everyone who tuned in to Writer's Block Wednesday on Instagram Live last week, hosted by Dr. Rònké Òké. If you were not able to join, you can view the replay here.

We talked about my journey to becoming a published author, the importance of using style as a strategic tool, and how to overcome challenges related to the creative process, such as writer's block.

Here are a few suggestions that can help when you embark on any type of creative endeavor:

  • Just start! - You may not have all the knowledge, tools, and information — but just starting will allow you to create a foundation which you can build upon. As you move through your journey, resources and supporters will reveal themselves to you.

  • Talk about it! Share what you're doing with people — not with everybody, but with those who may have a genuine interest in what you're doing and who can serve as cheerleaders or accountability partners. Often, when people know you're looking to achieve certain goals, they offer to help or introduce you to people with similar interests who can inspire you and provide assistance.

  • Take a break! If you have run low on inspiration or are having a hard time tapping into your creativity, don't be afraid to walk away for a little while. Get some rest, change your scenery, and allow the ideas to flow when you're more relaxed. Forcing creativity is not particularly productive and can lead to increased frustration.

Those are tactics I used during my process, and they helped me get across the finish line.

As mentioned during Writer's Block Wednesday, if you haven't yet purchased a copy of my book, Find Your Fabulous: The Fearless Fashionista® Approach to Developing and Owning Your Style, you can order your copy now with FREE SHIPPING through July 24th, when you use code WRITERSBLOCKWEDNESDAY during the checkout process.
