Hello my fashionable friends,

Last week, I participated in two virtual events. On an Instagram Live segment called Writer’s Block Wednesday, I shared how I took a book idea from conceptualization to implementation and became a published author. I also participated in a workshop titled Career Café where I discussed the importance of your image, as it relates to your career.

I enjoyed those events so much, I decided to jump on Instagram Live to talk some more. Each Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET, I’ll be hosting a segment on Instagram Live, called Fashion Forum where I will be discussing all things fashion and style. I have been toying with the idea of creating video content for a little while and decided to just move forward with the idea to see where it leads me.

This past Tuesday on the inaugural segment of Fashion Forum, I chatted with my good friend, fellow fashionista, and entrepreneur, Tasha Woodard. Tasha has leveraged her 20+ years of experience in the eyewear industry and created her own company, Twin Vision LLC, which specializes in fashionable and functional sunglasses.

Tasha is a mother of three, including a set of twins, who inspired the name of the company. The first line of sunglasses, WeR1 Exclusives, was designed with a “fashion first” mindset that incorporates a positive message.

Tasha found a way to marry her eye for fashion, her career aspirations, and her desire to make a difference. Tasha’s daughter Taylor has Down Syndrome, and children with Down Syndrome have an increased risk for a number of eye disorders. In addition, their ears sit a little lower, and they have a smaller than average nose with a flattened bridge. Tasha has identified a need in the eyewear market, and will be developing a line of glasses to accommodate those needs. How amazing is that?
