Fashion Forum - Episode 4: Just Two Fashionistas Kickin' It...

Candance Campbell in Tulle

Candance Campbell in Tulle

Hello my fashionable friends,

This past Tuesday, I had a chance to chat with friend and fellow fashionista Candance Campbell. Originally from Trenton, NJ, Candance has always loved fashion and uses the language of style to speak volumes.

We talked about everything from Vice Presidential candidate Kamala Harris’ style to our favorite fashion icons and designers. You can catch the replay of our conversation here.

Happy Hour

Candance and I decided to turn our chat into a happy hour. Candance chose Black Girl Magic Rosè. (How apropos!) I sipped on a Piña Colada Mimosa (Malibu rum, Proseco, and pineapple juice)

Candance’s Take on Style

  • Greatest fashion influence: Candance’s love of fashion was cultivated at home. The art of looking good every time you step out of the house was instilled in her by her mom.

  • Style icons: Diana Ross, Jackie O, Michelle Obama, Rihanna

  • Favorite Designers: Hanifa, Ozwald Boateng

  • Getting Dressed: Candance’s style is dictated by her mood

Although Candance has a strong sense of style and knows what she likes, she also believes in collaborating with and trusting the experts. Whether it’s hairstyles, nail artistry, or even interior design, Candance has developed relationships with a team, who builds on her style and preferences to keep things fresh.

Candance’s top piece of style advice is “Don’t live your life by other peoples’ standards. Remain creative, and don’t be afraid to compliment another sister.”

Those are definitely words to live by.

It was great to catch up with Candance and talk about fashion!

Please check me out on Instagram Live every Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET @thefearlessfashionista for Fashion Forum! Next week’s guest will be Allana Joyner-Stephens, Founder of Clean Home and Organized Spaces (CHAOS). We’ll talk about the connection between an organized closet and its impact on your style.

Fashion Note: I got a few comments and questions about the red sequin bolero I was wearing during the segment. I bought it last year, but there are still a few available, and at a deeply discounted price. Grab it before it’s gone.
