Fashion Forum - Episode 5: Redefining Chaos
Hello my fashionable friends,
This past Tuesday on Fashion Forum, I spoke with Allana Joyner-Stephens, Founder of Clean Homes and Organized Spaces (CHAOS), a professional organizing and decluttering service.
Allana’s mission is to redefine chaos and help us get our homes, closets, and lives together. You can watch the replay of this segment of Fashion Forum here.
Allana has always had an innate ability to walk into a room and immediately begin thinking about how the space can be better organized for maximum efficiency. She belongs to The National Association of Productivity & Organizing (NAPO) and the The National Association for Black Professional Organizers (NABHO), and is constantly seeking educational opportunities to improve her skills and bring more value to her clients.
Allana’s Top Closet Organization Tips
The first step in organizing your closet is to declutter. Get rid of things you no longer need. For items that have sentimental value, but are taking up valuable space—take a picture of them, or take a picture of you wearing the pieces, then give yourself permission to let the items go.
Huggable Hangers are useful in maintaining uniformity and streamlining your closet. Their sleek design helps conserve space, and prevents your clothes from slipping off the hangers.
Use clear containers to store your shoes. This allows you to see what you have at a glance, and saves time when you’re looking for the right pair of shoes to complement your outfit.
An adjustable closet rod extender helps create more space and gives it a neat layered look.
You can purchase these items from The Container Store, Target, Walmart, and Home Goods.
Think about how much easier your life can be when your closets are organized. You can easily see what’s in your closet, allowing you to more quickly figure out what you’re going to wear, and more effortlessly mix and match your pieces.
