Fashion Forum - Episode 9: Meet Makeup Artist Errika Young
Hello my fashionable friends,
Makeup artist Errika Young joined us for Episode 9 of Fashion Forum. You can check out the replay of Part I and Part II if you missed it.
Errika initially wanted to get into fashion design, but switched gears and went to cosmetology school. She loves working with people and has extensive experience working with cosmetics and personal care products, including positions at The Body Shop, Aveda, and she currently works at Ulta, helping to beautify everyone who needs a “pick-me'-up.”
Errika knows that makeup can be intimidating and her goal is to make her clients feel comfortable to trust her, whether it’s a person who has had bad experiences in the past with makeovers, or someone who is new to cosmetics and doesn’t know where to start.
In addition to working at various retail outlets, Errika worked at a gentleman’s club for several years, where she learned a few valuable lessons:
Every woman wants to look beautiful and sexy.
You have to be quick.
As a makeup artist, you have to get the look right, so the client feels confident.

Errika’s Expert Advice
For the every day woman who needs some direction, Errika recommends identifying the feature or features you’d like to define. Whether it’s your lips, complexion, cheeks, or eyes—keep it simple, and play up one or two areas so you don’t overwhelm yourself.
Now that everyone is wearing masks a great area of focus is the eyes. Use a colored liner or mascara and /or light liner in water line to brighten your eyes.
Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray is great for keeping your makeup in place for up to 16 hours.
Errika is available for freelance opportunities, including weddings and special occasions and you contact her via her Instagram page.
