Spring Shopping and Styling Tips

Hello my fashionable friends,

Spring is here! I’m so excited because the weather is getting warmer, daylight is lasting longer, and I can spend more time outdoors. This past winter was tough due to particularly cold temperatures and fewer opportunities to connect with people. I’m looking forward to better days, and my hope is that we slowly start returning to some semblance of normalcy—including having more reasons to wear fabulous outfits.

The start of each season is a good time to take inventory of your wardrobe and determine your style strategy. Will you be re-working your existing pieces, adding a few new things into your closet, or completely overhauling your look?

I’m a huge fan of reviving my existing pieces by creatively mixing and matching, but it’s also great to introduce a handful of new garments into your style repertoire to keep things interesting. I visited my friends at Sybaritic Bags and Clothing in Bear, DE to check out their spring collection. Sybaritic Bags is a PETA-approved vegan boutique that carries a wide selection of clothing, accessories, and handbags of all styles. Check out my top picks below.

Casual Wear

I love when clothes are just as cute as they are comfortable. Sometimes you have to forfeit comfort in the name of fashion, but in this case I was able to have the best of both worlds. I chose this great denim shirt/tunic and paired it with a pair of charcoal leggings and sneakers. The shirt is extremely versatile and I look forward to wearing it frequently and restyling it in different ways. I finished off the look by selecting a fabric tote with a braided embellishment.

Styling Options for the Denim Shirt

  • Wear the top in place of a jacket over dresses, jumpsuits and shorts.

  • Button it, belt it, and wear it as a dress.

  • Pair with skinny jeans of a different wash, such as white, or light blue, for a nice contrast.

  • Dress it up with leather or textured leggings.

A Little Dressier

I’m a sucker for a wrap dress. Wrap dresses look great on many body types and are so easy to style. I love the colors in this dress and this fabric is practically wrinkle-proof. I layered a white tank underneath to minimize the exposure of my cleavage and wore black pumps with a silver cap toe and heel to complete the look.

Styling the Wrap Dress

  • Throw on a blazer in black, white or royal blue.

  • Lose the tank and wear a pair of strappy sandals for a sexier look.

  • Pair with a cardigan or shrug and over-the-knee boots.

  • Dress it down with a denim jacket and wedge sandals.

Somewhere in Between

The next two outfits are comfortable and great for events that are not too casual and not too dressy. For the first look, I’m wearing a tie dye dress and styled it like a tunic by wearing a pair of white jeans. The vegan leather graffiti-print bag adds a nice pop of color to the look and is the perfect size to fit all your essentials for a weekend getaway.

I wore my slouchy sparkly boots, which are no longer available, but you can find other options here.

Styling Ideas

  • Wear the dress with a cropped denim blazer and over the knee boots.

  • Throw a sheer white kimono over the tunic and jeans, and swap out the boots for a pair of strappy sandals.

  • Swap out the white skinny jeans for a dark wash and wear white Chuck Taylor sneakers.

  • Layer the dress over a drop waist full midi skirt and complete the look with sandals.

For my next look, I couldn’t resist this amazing houndstooth jacket. The colors are fall-like, but while the weather is still straddling the fence between the cooler and warmer temperatures, I can still wear it for a little while and then save it for the fall.

I paired the jacket with the “Blessed” sleeveless tank, vegan leather leggings, and a vegan leather purse with an amazing fringe effect. The statement necklace is also available at the boutique. My gold Mary Jane pumps added a little shimmer to the look.

Styling Ideas

  • Wear the jacket with a pair of boyfriend jeans and a fitted t-shirt.

  • Throw the jacket on over a black sheath or midi dress with a pair of statement pumps.

  • Style the sleeveless tank with a full skirt and sandals.

  • Pair the faux leather leggings with an oversize sweatshirt and sneakers.

Final Thoughts

The start of a new season is a great time to think about a fresh start, embarking on new projects, and rethinking your style. Add a few new pieces to your wardrobe to lift your spirits—I am a firm believer in the connection between looking good and feeling good.
